GEELONG RESTE EN TETE


Après la 9ème journée, les Cats de Geelong gardent le cap et restent seuls en tête du classement de l'AFL. Pourtant, il s'en est fallu de peu, d'un goal manqué par Carlton dans la dernière minute, pour que le leader garde son invincibilité. En effet, c'est par un écart minime de 2 points que les Cats ont battu les Blues sur le score de 102 à 100 au terme d'un match qui a tenu toutes ses promesses.
Les Magpies de Collingwood ont eux aussi eu chaud puisque menés durant les trois premiers quart-temps, ce n'est que dans l'ultime période que les champions en titre se sont réveillés pour assommer les Crows d'Adelaide. Résultat final: 135-92
Les Hawks de Hawthorn complètent le podium après leur probant succès sur les Sydney Swans 106-60 grâce notamment à 6 goals de sa vedette Lance Franklin (photo) qui retrouve la grande forme.
On notera aussi la première victoire des Lions de Brisbane aux dépens de North Melbourne et la performance des West Coast Eagles qui ont écrasé les Western Bulldogs avec plus de 120 points d'avance et 10 goals de Josh Kennedy.
