La deuxième journée de l'AFL qui s'est déroulée ce week-end a été marquée par des gros scores qui laissent augurer une certaine hiérarchie au sein des clubs.
Le champion en titre, Collingwood a encore écrasé tout sur son passage tel un rouleau compresseur et s'annonce comme le favori de la compétition après sa nette victoire aux dépens des Kangaroos de North Melbourne (143-56).
Au contraire, la saison parait difficile pour la nouvelle franchise des Suns de Gold Coast qui a subi un lourd revers pour son match inaugural face à Carlton. Les Blues ont dominé les débats d'entrée et n'ont fait qu'une bouchée de leur adversaire du Queensland: 171-52
Les Western Bulldogs, emmenés par leurs milieux de terrain Boyd et Griffen, ont effacé leur défaite humiliante de la semaine passée en alignant une superbe prestation qui leur a permis de s'imposer nettement face aux Lions de Brisbane (123-45).
Pour ce qui est des autres rencontres, les Cats et les West Coast Eagles ont réussi à grapiller leur second succès de l'année ce qui leur permet de rester dans le peloton de tête en compagnie des Magpies de Collingwood et des Blues de Carlton.
Les Bombers d'Essendon n'ont pas réussi à confirmer après leur probante première victoire obtenu la semaine passée. L'équipe entraînée par James Hird a dû s'incliner de 5 petits points à Sydney.
Pour la deuxième fois en deux semaines, on a assisté un match nul puisque les Saints de Saint Kilda et les Richmond Tigers se sont quittés sur un score de parité 95 à 95 lors du premier match de la journée vendredi soir.
