LES FAITS MARQUANTS DU WEEK-END


Après 6 journées, Collingwood reste en tête. Après un début de match catastrophique face aux Western Bulldogs, les Magpies se sont bien repris dès le deuxième quart-temps puis ont confirmé leur souveraineté lors des dernières périodes. Au final, les champions en titre l'emportent facilement sur le score de 105 à 57.

Les Blues de Carlton ont réussi à gagner à Sydney pour la première fois depuis 1993. Sous une pluie battante, l'équipe de Melbourne a réussi à prendre le dessus lors du dernier quart. Cette victoire lui permet d'accéder à la 3ème place du classement.

Si les Blues ont remporté une victoire historique, que dire de la performance des Bombers d'Essendon (photo) qui ont écrasé la nouvelle franchise de Gold Coast sur le score de 197 à 58. Tout s'est joué dès le premier quart-temps avec 94 points inscrits par Essendon. Il s'agit là du record de points marqués lors d'un premier quart-temps.

Le voisin de Gold Coast, Brisbane va encore plus mal puisque l'équipe des Lions reste la seule équipe à ne pas avoir gagné en championnat après sa défaite à Richmond (98-124) conjuguée à la victoire de North Melbourne emmené par son expérimenté capitaine Brent Harvey sur la décevante équipe de Port Adelaide (133-73).

On notera aussi la nouvelle défait de Saint Kilda qui n'arrive pas à décoller au classement. Les Saints ont non seulement perdu leur rencontre face à Adelaide (90-71) mais ils ont aussi perdu sur blessure leur attaquant vedette Nick Riewoldt.
