Il s'en est fallu de peu pour que les Cats de Geelong réussissent à s'imposer face aux Tigers de Richmond dans le match d'ouverture de la 20ème journée puisque dans les derniers instants Gary Ablett Jr a manqué l'occasion de marquer les 6 points de la victoire en convertissant un behind.
Score final : 85-82 en faveur du champion en titre qui conforte son leadership après ce match disputé. Jack Riewoldt, auteur de 4 buts, a encore été déterminant en attaque et Kane Lambert a été impressionnant au milieu de terrain.
Pour les braves et malheureux Cats, il faudra encore batailler dans les 3 dernières journées pour valider leur place pour les phases finales.
